Privacy Policy

    This policy explains how Ruthless Raccoon handles your personal information, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). We keep it short and plain.

    Who we are

    The responsible party is Ruthless Raccoon, a digital marketing business based in Pretoria, South Africa. You can reach us at ba@ruthlessraccoon.co.za or 063 160 7507.

    What we collect

    • Contact details you choose to send us via WhatsApp, email, phone or a Calendly booking – for example your name, phone number, email address, business name and what you need help with.
    • Anonymised usage analytics and cookies from Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity – only if you click "Accept analytics" in our cookie notice.
    • Basic page-view and click events (such as which page was viewed or which button was clicked, with a random session ID) stored in our own database to understand how the site is used. These do not include your name or contact details.

    Why we use it

    We use your information to reply to your enquiries, schedule and hold strategy sessions, provide the services you ask for, and improve our website and marketing. We do not sell your personal information.

    Lawful basis and consent

    We process your information because you have consented (for example by contacting us or accepting analytics cookies), because it is needed to take steps towards or perform a contract with you, or because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving our business in a way that does not override your rights. Optional analytics cookies are only set with your consent.

    Operators and cross-border transfers

    We use trusted service providers (operators) to run this site and our business: Calendly (bookings), Google (Analytics 4 and related services), Microsoft (Clarity) and Supabase (website database and hosting). Some of these store or process information outside South Africa. We only use providers that are bound by laws, binding agreements or policies that give an adequate level of protection, as required by section 72 of POPIA.

    How long we keep it

    We keep enquiry and client information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires (for example tax records). Site analytics events are kept for a limited period and then deleted or anonymised. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

    Security

    We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including access controls and encrypted connections. If we become aware of a security compromise affecting your information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

    Your rights

    Under POPIA you have the right to:

    • ask whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it;
    • ask us to correct or update inaccurate information;
    • ask us to delete or destroy your information;
    • object to processing of your information;
    • withdraw your consent at any time – for analytics, clear this site's data in your browser and choose "Essential only" when the notice reappears.

    Direct marketing

    We will only send you marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them or you are an existing client. Every message includes a way to opt out, and you can also tell us at any time to stop.

    Complaints

    If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please talk to us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

    Changes to this policy

    We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when it last changed.
